Your listing is doing the work your website should be doing.

The Google Business Profile is bringing people in and the website is losing them. It takes 4.8 seconds to load on a phone, the number isn’t tappable, and there’s one page covering eleven services. Nothing here is expensive to fix and the first one is free.

The three things worth fixing first

Ranked by what they’re costing you against how hard they are to fix. Not by what would be most interesting to work on.

  1. 01

Your Google listing is missing nine of your services

What’s happening: The profile lists “Plumber” and “Emergency plumber”. Your website mentions eleven things you do, including hot water systems, gas fitting, blocked drains and backflow testing. None of those are on the listing.

What it’s costing you: Each service you list is another search you can appear for. Searches like “hot water repair Rozelle” are showing three competitors and not you, and those are people ready to book.

What fixing it involves: Open your profile, go to Services, and add each one with a short description. It is typing, not marketing.

You can do this yourself — about 20 minutes, free

  2. 02

The site takes 4.8 seconds to load on a phone

What’s happening: On mobile data, from cold, it is 4.8 seconds before the headline is readable. The homepage slider is loading five images at 3–4MB each before anything else renders.

What it’s costing you: Most of your customers find you on a phone, usually mid-problem with other tabs open. A large share leave before they see your name — and they are the most urgent, highest-value visitors you get.

What fixing it involves: Compress and resize the images, and remove the slider. On most sites this alone takes several seconds off. If the hosting is the bottleneck we would move it.

Needs us — half a day

  3. 03

One page is doing the job of eleven

What’s happening: Every service you offer is on a single Services page. There is no page about hot water systems, or blocked drains, or gas fitting.

What it’s costing you: Google ranks pages, not businesses. A combined page competes for everything and wins nothing, which is why you are invisible for the specific searches people actually type.

What fixing it involves: A page per service, each with its own title and real detail — what it costs, how long it takes, what usually goes wrong. You know this better than any copywriter does.

Scorecard

Everything we looked at

AreaStateNote
Speed on mobile Problem 4.8 seconds to a readable page. Over five and it becomes the most expensive problem on a site.
Asking for the enquiry Needs work Phone number is in the footer only and not tappable. Form has 7 fields; 3 or 4 would convert better.
Found on Google Problem 4 pages indexed. No individual service pages, so nothing to rank for specific searches.
Google Business Profile Needs work Claimed and verified, good review rating. Services nearly empty, no photos since March, Q&A blank.
Quotable by AI Problem No schema markup anywhere. Prices and service area only appear inside images, so they are invisible to machines.
Tracking Couldn't check No analytics tag visible in the page source. If calls are not tracked, nothing can be measured later.

Detail

The longer version

Everything behind the scorecard, if you want it. Skip it if you don’t — the three above are what matter.

Speed, in detail

PageSpeed mobile scores 34. The main cause is five uncompressed hero images totalling roughly 18MB, all loading before the page renders. A homepage slider also measurably reduces conversions in its own right, so removing it helps twice.

Secondary causes: 19 WordPress plugins loading scripts on every page, and shared hosting taking about 900ms to respond before sending anything.

What people see first

The headline reads “Quality you can trust since 1998”. It does not say what you do or where you do it. Someone landing from a search for a blocked drain in Balmain has to work out whether they are in the right place.

There is no service area written anywhere on the site, so people outside your patch call you and people inside it cannot tell that you cover them.

The listing

Claimed, verified, 18 reviews at 4.7 — that is a genuinely good base and better than two of the three competitors ranking above you.

What is missing: services, recent photos, Q&A, and replies to the four most recent reviews. The last post was 14 months ago. All of it is free and all of it feeds the map pack.

Who is ranking instead of you

For “plumber Rozelle” the map pack shows three businesses with 40–90 reviews each and complete service lists. Their websites are not better than yours. Their listings are.

Ads

Nothing found in the Google Ads Transparency Centre and no paid results for your main terms, so we have assumed you are not advertising. If you are, it is not showing for the searches that matter.

Our honest view: do not start ads until the site loads faster and has service pages. Paying to send people to a page that loses them is the most expensive mistake available here.

What we checked

  • Your website on a phone, on mobile data, from cold
  • Google PageSpeed Insights, mobile
  • Page source for schema markup, analytics and tracking tags
  • Indexed pages via a site: search
  • Your Google Business Profile, in full
  • The map pack for your three main service searches
  • Google Ads Transparency Centre

What we couldn’t check

  • Your Google Ads account — needs access, and we would not ask for it unprompted
  • Google Analytics or Search Console data
  • Your actual enquiry and call volume
  • Anything behind a login
  • Your hosting account and its real response times under load

We only looked at what’s publicly visible. Anything above would need you to grant access, and none of it is needed to act on the three fixes.

What now

Three options, including doing nothing

Do it yourself

Fix the listing yourself this week — it is the biggest single win here and it costs nothing. The speed and service pages need someone technical, but any decent developer can do them.

Cost: nothing

Get us to do it

Quick Refresh covers the priority fixes done for you. If you ever go ahead with a full package, the $997 comes off it — no time limit, so it works as a deposit rather than an extra cost. The speed work and service pages would sit in Groundwork.

Quick Refresh $997, credited against any package

Do nothing

Your listing is already working and the reviews are good. If you are busy enough, doing nothing is a legitimate choice — just do the free listing fix, because not doing that one is leaving money on the table.

A real option

This report is yours either way. You won’t be chased, added to a mailing list or called repeatedly — one follow-up at most, and only if you haven’t replied.
